Bulldogs swept in softball

| May 4, 2006 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT — Freshman Kim Guercio had three hits and Erin Cometto, recently called up from the JV, added two as the Bulldogs were swept by Lewiston on Thursday.

Sarah Murphy pitched solid in the first game, keeping the Bengals in check before they blew it open late.

"Sarah kept us in the game," said coach Derek Dickinson. "We left the bases loaded twice. We just couldn't come up with the clutch hits."

Lewiston tried a squeeze play in the first game and catcher Macaela Brady got the better end of a collision at home plate, leveling the base runner. She also threw out two baserunners trying to steal.

"Brady has been a warrior behind the plate all year," Dickinson said of his defensive stalwart.
