George F.P. Woods, 72
George F.P. Woods, 72, of Waldport, Ore., died April 30, 2006, in Corvallis, Ore.
Services were held Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Waldport Foursquare Church.
He was born June 3, 1933, in Billings, Mont.
Woods was a college graduate and served in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman (rank E7) for 22 years. He served in Korea, five tours in Vietnam, and in Cuba.
He worked as a deputy sheriff in Sandpoint, Idaho, and also as an ATM servicer.
He married Nancy Larson in Sandpoint on Aug. 30, 1975.
Woods was a member of Foursquare churches for 30 years and most recently attended the Waldport Foursquare Church. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, church council and Waldport's Citizen Patrol.
Woods collected teddy bears and enjoyed reading.
Woods was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Woods.
Woods is survived by his wife, Nancy L. Woods of Waldport; a sister, Mary Lou Courser of Sandpoint; a son, Nick Woods of Sandpoint; a son, Shaun Woods of Anchorage, Alaska; a son, Robert Woods of Hillsboro, Ore.; a son, Terry Woods of McMinnville, Ore.; a stepson, Bill Shipley of Banks, Ore.; a stepdaughter, Bobi Turner of Banks; a stepson, Edward Shipley of Forest Grove, Ore.; a stepson, Paul Johnson of Sandpoint; stepson, Wayne Fox of Cheyenne, Wyo.; a stepson, Dave Fox of Sandpoint; and 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
