Margaret Sorena (Eldred) Popovich, 87
Margaret Sorena (Edlred) Popovich, 87, of Tacoma, Wash., passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, April 29, 2006, surrounded by her family.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2006, at Coffelt's Funeral Chapel, 109 N. Division St., Sandpoint, Idaho.
Inurnment will be at Westmond Cemetery in Westmond, Idaho. Dale Coffelt will be officiating.
Margaret was born on Oct. 8, 1918, in Mott, N.D., the daughter of William and Sara Eldred. She and her family left North Dakota in 1936. They packed all their personal belongings and livestock, along with themselves, in a railroad boxcar and headed west to Sagle, Idaho.
She was married and had three children, Bill, Arlene and Jack; and later divorced. She then moved her family to Roslyn, Wash., where she worked as a cook.
She met and married her husband, Tony Popovich, and eventually they moved their family to Renton, Wash. She lived and worked there for many years as a cook.
Her retirement years she spent with family. She lived with her niece, Danielle (Eldred) Bartro and her husband, Bill, in Buckley, Wash., for several years and was caretaker for their daughter, Jessica. She enjoyed her time with their family very much.
She moved to Tacoma, Wash., and later to Graham, Wash., to live with her granddaughter, Debbie, and her family, where she was caretaker for their daughter, Kate.
She spent the last two years of her life in assisted living, where she had many friends and enjoyed many activities with them.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Popovich; a son, William Lindsey; brothers, Phillip, Marvin, Lester and Robert; and sisters, Lavonne "Bunny" Turk and Rosemary "Dolly" Turnbull.
She is survived by her daughter, Laura "Arlene" Riffle of Puyallup, Wash.; a son, Randolph "Jack" Lindsey and wife, Linda, of Spokane, Wash.; a sister, Laura Carothers of Sagle, Idaho; a brother, Walter and wife, Joy Eldred of Sagle; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret was well loved and will be remembered by all who knew her for her generosity and her never-ending willingness to help others.
Memorials may be made in her honor to the Westmond Cemetery, 3222 S. Sagle Road, Sagle, ID 83860.
