Friends of the Library reach out to New Orleans library system

| May 17, 2006 9:00 PM

I love to read.

It doesn't matter what genre or what format it is, if it's a good story and well-written, I'll read it. I don't care if it's a classic work or a modern-day "trash" novel — give me a good book, a sunny day and a cold drink, and I'm a happy camper.

You won't see me pull my nose out until A) the sun goes down, B) the mosquitoes come out in squadron numbers and/or C) I finish the book.

Which is why I think the East Bonner County Friends of the Library's upcoming book sale is so important. FOL members are participating in the American Library Association's Adopt-A-Library program to aid libraries devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

The East Bonner County Library group has been assigned to assist the New Orleans Public Library system

FOL plans to match the amount raised at its June 3 book sale with funds earmarked for bookmobile services.

The group is looking for additional books, CDs and videos in good condition to add to the sale so that they can donate as much as possible to the New Orleans Public Library system.

Items can be left at the circulation desk.

As one reader to a community of readers, let's do everything we can to make this one of the best book sales ever.
