The rape at Dog Beach underlines the necessity of a safe place for Sandpoint dog owners to take their dogs within the public parks system. The Parks and Recreation Commission, supported by Mayor Ray Miller, rejected the application for a dog park on the grounds that citizens could take their dogs to Dog Beach outside the city limits.
The victim may not have been raped if she had been ale to walk her dog within the safety of Sandpoint public parks paid for by the tax payers.
