Bulldogs earn IEL honorable mention kudos
Three Bulldog softball players were named to the IEL honorable mention team. Third baseman Stephanie Ferguson and catcher Macaela Brady, both juniors, and freshman outfielder Kim Guercio were honored on Tuesday.
All three players are underclassmen, which bodes well for the future of Sandpoint softball. Head coach Derek Dickinson had this to say about each player:
Kim Guercio — "Kim is an exciting young player with loads of potential. After getting acclimated to the varsity level her offensive abilities simply took off. I see her being a cornerstone of the program for the next three years. She led the team with a .385 batting average, is aggressive and hits the ball hard."
Stephanie Ferguson — "Fergie never gets cheated at the plate. She is super aggressive, attacks the ball and loves to hit. She batted .307 and led the team in RBI's. I expect her to take her all around game to the next level next year and help lift our team to greater success."
Macaela Brady — "Mac plays the game with a chip on her shoulder and a bit of an attitude. She understands the intensity that is required to play a varsity sport. She was a warrior for us behind the plate, catching almost every inning although she has some knee issues. She also excelled at the plate, batting .306 and was near the top in most offensive categories. I believe she could be one of the top two catchers in the league next year."
