Monday crash ends in fatality

COCOLALLA — A two-vehicle accident ended in tragedy Monday afternoon as one person was killed in the crash.

A second person was airlifted to Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene, according to an Idaho State Police dispatcher.

Notification of family members was ongoing and the name of the person killed was being withheld, she said.

A name and condition of the person injured also was unavailable.

The accident, which happened about 5:23 p.m. in the Cocolalla area briefly blocked traffic on U.S. Highway 95.

The crash was the second of two major accidents on U.S. 95, with the first taking place about 12:30 p.m. in the Selle area.

At least one person in that two-vehicle accident was transported to the hospital with injuries.

No further information was available on either accident at press time.
