Driver in deadly crash identified
SANDPOINT — Idaho State Police have identified the woman who was killed in a fiery collision on U.S. Highway 95 on Monday.
Liliya B. Nesterova, a 50-year-old from Bonners Ferry, died after she collided head-on with another motorist at Cocolalla Flats at about 5:30 p.m.
State police said Nesterova was northbound in a Dodge Intrepid when she crossed the center line and crashed into a southbound Cadillac sedan driven by Amanda N. Ringhand, 27, of Athol. It was unclear what caused Nesterova to cross into oncoming traffic and the crash remains under investigation, ISP said.
Nesterova was not wearing a seat belt, but Ringhand was, state police said.
Ringhand was taken to Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene. She was listed in fair condition on Tuesday, a hospital supervisor said.
