Dr. John Gale, 81

There will be a celebration of Dr. John Gale's life at the Seventh-day Adventist Church located at 2255 West Pine St. in Sandpoint on Saturday, June 3, 2006, beginning at 4 p.m.

Dr. Gale is survived by Jackie, his wife of 60 years; his mother, Charlotte Gale; son, Mark Gale, and his children, Jessica and Mark; daughter, Cheri Sadler and her sons, Ryan and Nick; and his sister, Beatrice Amendola.

Dr. Gale was born on Dec. 2, 1924, and passed away at his home in Naples on May 29, 2006. John was an active member of many service-oriented organizations. He was the president of Liga, an organization of flying doctors traveling to foreign countries to serve the health needs of the poor. He received an honorary doctorate degree at the University of Momtemorlos, Mexico, and was instrumental in the creation of a school of dentistry at the university.

He was a dynamic member of Rotary International giving 54 years of service and was instrumental in establishing a branch of Rotary International in Bonners Ferry. He was recently recognized by the president of Rotary International and was presented an award for his services.

Dr. Gale had a varied and successful business career ranging from a Harley Davidson motorcycle dealership to an executive position with Chris-Craft boats and other business interests in between. He was an avid sports fisherman, aircraft pilot, world traveler, professional motorcycle racer, and a dedicated family man.

In 1969 Dr. Gale purchased his beautiful and beloved Hidden Valley Ranch where he and his wife later retired.
