George Eskridge is a friend to veterans

| November 2, 2006 8:00 PM

George Eskridge, a Vietnam veteran, has sponsored and/or supported legislation for veterans every year he has been in office. Examples include authorization and funding for Idaho's veterans cemetery, eligibility for peacetime veterans to live in Idaho's veterans homes, reinforcing the 5 percent and 10 percent hiring preference for veterans, transportation vouchers to enable wheelchair-confined veterans to get to a VA hospital, a joint memorial to Congress to allow vets with 50 percent or more disability to get both their full disability payment and military retirement, and authorization to withhold certain personal information when filing their DD214 with the county recorder.

Eskridge also sponsored legislation to exempt from calculation of circuit breaker eligibility benefits paid to veterans' widows by the federal government, and legislation authorizing a veteran's motorcycle license plate with proceeds going to operate and maintain Idaho's veterans cemetery.

I support Eskridge for re-election to the Legislature. He is a friend of veterans.
