Ronald John Poelstra
Ronald John Poelstra passed away in Anchorage, Alaska, on Oct. 28, 2006.
He was born on Nov. 29, 1946, in Sandpoint, Idaho, in the old hospital. "Ronnie" was the son of John and Edna Poelstra.
He grew up in Sandpoint and attended local schools. He graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1967.
He was in the Army and served two tours in Vietnam.
He leaves behind his wife, Susan, of Wasilla, Alaska; a son, Ronnie Jr., and wife Leslie of Darby, Kan.; stepdaughter Katrina (Dan) of Texas; his father, John, and stepmother Annie of Sandpoint; a sister Julie Seitze and her husband Paul of Vancouver, Wash.; a brother Terry and wife Myla of Edna Bay, Alaska; plus many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna; a niece and nephew; and all of his grandparents.
Ronnie loved to cook. He cooked for the American Legion, the Masons, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Lions. He was very much in demand and loved his life in Alaska.
