NICAN bypass suit without merit

| November 4, 2006 8:00 PM

The first phase of the recent plan by Mr. Bordenave makes sense, repainting lanes, traffic light changes, two-way Pine Street, etc.

The rest, another thinly-disguised ploy for a disruptive, gashing through-town route, that means the average resident sacrificing more of what's left of their old town for the sake of those who advertised, got this town discovered and enticed many to move here which has caused much of the congestion in the first place.

And what if those Realtors, developers and tourists oriented businesses get their way? No Sand Creek route. A situation similar to the Sanders Beach controversy in Coeur d'Alene? Curtailed public access to the beach and shoreline for the sake of condos for the haves and have mores of the world?

Carol Albanese of Priest River, I think you guys should tear down that old Beardmore Building and put up a new hotel or something. I know best 'cause I live in another town. Just as you know best that we should not build the byway because of a one-day event in late summer and so tourists eating above Sand Creek can their $30 meals without looking at traffic.

Tunnels? Sandpoint is not Seattle, Vancouver nor San Francisco and visitors passing through can use the exits to drive through town.

The Clean Water Act doesn't strictly apply to Sand Creek as it's already influenced by man, the railroad will automatically deed the property to the state as soon as the okay comes from the Department of Lands and the Army Corps of Engineers and that frivolous NICAN lawsuit hasn't even come before a judge yet as it has no merit.
