Byway is still the best possible route

| November 18, 2006 8:00 PM

I decided to visit NICAN's Web site to judge for myself it's contents. I am not impressed.

The fact that your organization is funded with undisclosed private funding is the first red flag.

A special interest with lots of money could be trying to stop a sorely needed bypass for it's financial gain at the cost of the town.

While the Sand Creek route may be unpopular with some, it is the best route. The railroad has occupied the same space for decades and has not slid into the creek.

The passage of a train every 20 minuets has already ruined the tranquility of the beach. Removing the noise, traffic and danger of a highway from downtown to this same space is the best solution.

Your depictions of the traffic on the bypass are exaggerated. Depictions of tractor trailers end to end only smack of propaganda and cause me to distrust all of your information.

Alternatives offered on your site are not only more expensive but would displace private homes and businesses. So much for property rights.

If NICAN is successful in delaying the Sand Creek bypass I will join in any and all class actions against it and its principles.
