Rescuers, victim were both lucky in recent accident
OK, I just cannot help myself, I have to respond after reading about the man that was rescued after plunging from the Long Bridge on Nov. 12.
First, on a serious note, he is a very lucky person to be alive and that all of his rescuers involved are also doing well. (What a nightmare for those rescuers.)
After reading the article, I came up with some helpful hints that might come in handy if you walk the bridge at night after partying at the Long Bridge Grill.
1. Come with your life vest already on.
2. If you are embarrassed to walk in with a life preserver on, purchase some arm floaties and keep them folded up in each pocket. (Be sure to buy the correct size according to weight.)
3. Purchase a head light. (Battery operated and be sure to change out the batteries when you turn your clocks back or ahead.)
4. When you are ready to leave, please go and relieve yourself. (This helps from falling into the water on your walk home.)
5. If you are using arm floaties, now is the time to blow them up. Pretend like you are blowing into a Breathalyzer and you will have those things blown up in seconds.
6. Turn your head lamp on and start walking down the center line of the walking bridge. At first the line might be a little hard, but by the time you get to the other end, you will have it down.
7. If you came unprepared with the above ideas, maybe the Long Bridge Grill will start selling life jackets to their patrons who are walking "north" to home.
8. If all else fails, please call a taxi. It will probably save your life and the lives of all the people that are involved in your rescue or body recovery.
