Harrison Eugene Thompson, 87
Harrison Eugene Thompson, 87, of Libby, Mont., died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006, at St. John's Lutheran Hospital from natural causes.
He was born Aug. 24, 1919, in Forrest, Ind., to Fred and Sylvia Friend Thompson. He moved to Wyoming at a young age and then to Sandpoint, Idaho.
He had attended school at Sandpoint, Laclede and Priest River, where he graduated in 1937.
He married Irene V. MacPhail on Sept. 28, 1940, in Priest River.
They lived in Priest River for 22 years. In 1962, they moved to Libby where Gene went to work for J. Neil's Lumber Company. He worked there for 20 years.
Harrison enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and camping.
He was a Past Master for the Masonic Lodge in Spirit Lake; a member of the Libby Lodge (Libby Chaplin); Past Patron Eastern Star in Priest River; Demolay — Dad Advisor in Priest River; Past Associate Guardian of Jobs Daughter of Priest River; 32 Scottish Rite Mason, Valley of Missoula, Mont.; Algeria Shrine in Montana; and past president of Square Dance Spinning Squares (for more than 30 years).
Survivors include two children, Fred Thompson Jr. and wife, Merr,y of Libby, Mont., and Sheri Raynor of Clark Fork, Idaho; 12 grandchildren, Fred, Cari, Keli, David, Rowdy, Bill, Shelly, Michelle, Marcy, Joshua, Kerry Lynn and Daniel; great-grandchildren, Tasha, Shawna, Chelsie, Cherie, Brenden, Heather, Harrison, Hayden, Kurt, Hannah, Adam, Nathan, Cody, Kasandra, Stephen, Patrick, Abigal, Wyatt, Makayla, Alyssa, Jordan, Noah, Brian, Kiri, Jazlyn, Laney, Kynedy and Preslee.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday Dec. 1, 2006, at the Libby Christian Church in Libby, Mont. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 to 8 p.m.
Local arrangements are by the Nelson and Vial Funeral Home in Libby, Mont.
