Clayton 'Clay' Thane Haberkamp, 46

Clayton "Clay" Thane Haberkamp, 46, passed away on Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, in Cocolalla, Idaho, after an 11-month battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, 2006 at Coffelt's Funeral Chapel, 109 N. Division St., in Sandpoint, Idaho. Burial will be at Pinecrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Father Dennis C. Day will be officiating.

Clay was born on Aug. 14, 1960, in Geneva, Ill., the son of LeRoy and Alice (Loomis) Haberkamp.

He attended grade school at St. Irene's Catholic School in Warrenville, Ill. When Clay was 11 years old the family moved to Sandpoint. He graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1978. After graduation he worked for Kirby-Scribner Construction.

In 1987, he moved back to Warrenville, IL. and worked for his brother, Rodney, in the roofing business. In 1991, he returned to Sagle and began his own roofing business, Alpine Roofing and Construction.

In his spare time, Clay enjoyed restoring a boat and using it on the lake. During the winter, his passion was snowmobiling the mountains and photographing the winter landscape.

Clay is survived by his parents, LeRoy and Alice Haberkamp of Sagle, Idaho; two brothers, Rodney (Rebecca White) of Sagle and Mike (Linda Reynolds) of Sagle; a sister, Margie (Mel) Fondse of Marysville, Wash.; three nieces, Amanda Mason of Naples, Idaho, Rachel (Tye) Ingram of Arlington, Wash., and Theresa (Eric) Vander Kooy of Mount Vernon, Wash.; and a nephew, Ray Fondse (fiance Susan Leavens) of Arlington,

Clay's grandnephew and niece Elias and Olivia Ingram brought him great joy when they came to visit. He was unable to meet his grandniece, Marissa Vander Kooy, born on Oct. 4, 2006.

The family expresses sincere gratitude and thanks to Linda for all of her love, concern and caring of Clay during his final months.
