Dorothy Nina (Martin) Nichols, 88, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Friday, Oct. 6, 2006.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Pastor Jon Pomeroy will officiate at the services.

Dorothy was born on May 17, 1918, in Geddes, S.D., the daughter of Frank and Mildred LaDick. When she was a child the family moved to the Thama area and Dorothy attended the Thama School, later attending high school in Priest River.

During World War II, the family lived in Bremerton, Wash., and then followed construction work in the West. She also lived in the central coastal area of California, returning to Sandpoint in 1987.

She enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and a "good" cup of coffee. She was "Everybody's Grandma" and enjoyed a large extended family.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Darlene Coon of Sandpoint; her son, David Thompson of Reno, Nev.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.
