SANDPOINT — Skeletal remains were discovered by a hunter, the Bonner County Sheriff's Office said on Wednesday.
The sheriff's office released no other details and referred inquiries to Lt. Gary Johnston, who did not return calls on Wednesday.
Bonner County Prosecutor Phil Robinson said the remains, which appear to be human, were discovered early Wednesday morning by an elk hunter near Strawberry Mountain, which is located in the Grouse Creek area northeast of Sandpoint.
Robinson said some items of clothing were also found and there was an unconfirmed report the skull appeared to have a hole in it.
