Donald Phares Nelson, 63, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, in Athol, Idaho.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Coffelt's Funeral Chapel, 109 N. Division St., Sandpoint, Idaho.
Don was born in Redding, Calif., to Phares and Geneva (Wagner) Nelson on Feb. 9, 1943.
He joined the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and served two tours.
Don moved to the Silver Valley area, working in the mines in Kellogg, Idaho.
He then went to work as a gypo logger in Bonner County and Eugene, Ore.
He also had his license as a traffic control flagger.
Don loved to spend hours working on his "older collectible cars." He also enjoyed getting outdoors on the local lakes to go fishing.
He is survived by his children, Christopher (Valerie) Nelson of Sherwood, Ore., Charlotte Ann Nelson of Athol, Idaho, and Donald Hank Nelson of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; five grandchildren, Kevin, Jazime, Crystal, Sean and Marissa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Joyce.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.
