| October 20, 2006 9:00 PM

Krystal Marie Mullen, 21, passed away in an automobile accident on Oct. 9, 2006, in Tempe, Ariz.

Krystal was born in Mesa, Ariz., on Dec. 10, 1984. She spent her childhood in Tempe until the age of 8. At that time, her parents moved to Sandpoint, Idaho.

It was here that she became very involved with 4-H, showing cattle and rabbits and following in her father's footsteps.

She was very active in the community with church and school, always making us proud of her high grades. She loved to draw and share her artistic talent with everyone. She performed in the Missoula Children's Theater in several plays. In seventh grade she became a cheerleader and enjoyed supporting her classmates.

Krystal was always very passionate about her family and friends, doing for others was what made her happy. She worked at Carrera's Restaurant with her mother and stepfather and, when the restaurant closed, she went to work at the Long Bridge Bar and Grill.

She was the greatest big sister to her brother, Dave, and a wonderful daughter and granddaughter. She lived life to the fullest with every breath.

In January 2006, she returned to Arizona to live with her grandparents. Krystal was employed at FastSigns in the graph design department, a job she loved. She attended Lamson Business College at night, where she excelled in the business administration program. During the short time she was back in Arizona, she made many friends at work, at school and the nightlife scene, just as she did here in Sandpoint. She will be deeply missed.

Krystal's Sandpoint family includes her father, James Mullen; her best friend and brother, Davey; her mother, Lynn Martin; her stepfather, Jim Martin; her stepbrother, Tony Martin; her stepsister, Kymber Martin; her grandmother, Mary Welty, formerly of Tempe; her Aunt Mary; and three cousins.

Krystal's Arizona family includes her grandparents, Ron and Mary Mullen of Tempe; Aunt Shauna and Uncle Matt Silverman, and three cousins; her great-grandmother, Mertle Mullen of Chanaller, Ariz.; and her great-grandmother, Anna Mae Deming of Payson, Ariz. Her extended family includes many aunts, uncles, cousins and a multitude of friends.

The family is having a get-together at the Long Bridge Bar and Grill on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at 2 p.m. to celebrate her life.

"We know not where we came from, we know not where we got; it's all those in-between years God gives us room to grow. Some He gives a longer time to prepare our life's report. Then there are those like Krystal, whose time is way too short." Written by her grandfather, Ron Mullen, in loving memory.
