Keough led the charge on property tax reform

| October 25, 2006 9:00 PM

The homeowner's exemption was increased last legislative session for the first time since the voters put it in place by initiative in the 1980s. Shawn Keough led the charge to get it done. Plus, Shawn pushed for an inflationary factor to make sure the homeowner's exemption will continue to grow as our market grows. As a result, next year the exemption will be over $89,000.

While it may not be the whole answer to the property tax issue, it is a significant policy change that saved us homeowners money this year and will continue to every year. Thank you, Shawn Keough, for leading the charge to get it done.
