Prop 2 is nothing but bait-and-switch politics

| October 28, 2006 9:00 PM

Proposition 2 is bait-and-switch politics. It was put on the ballot by New York City real estate billionaire Howard Rich.

Proponents swallowed the bait. Idahoans are already protected from eminent domain by HB 555. In fact, the first part of Proposition 2 (the bait clause) copies it word for word.

Proponents fail to mention the second part of Proposition 2 (the switch clause).

The switch part will allow wealthy developers, like Mr. Rich, to sue the local government if they aren't allowed to do whatever they want with their property.

That money will come from Idaho taxpayers and will jeopardize community services.

As a single mom and a senior at the University of Idaho, I urge everyone to get out and vote no on Proposition 2. The future of our communities and our quality of life depend on you.
