Edward David Furtado, 54, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, at his home near Sandpoint, Idaho.

Private memorial services have been held.

Ed was born on March 16, 1952 in Providence, R.I., the son of Edward and Evelyn (Merrill) Furtado.

He grew up in Providence and at the age of 9, moved with his family to California where he attended schools, graduating from Cooperchino, Calif.

He went to work for Hewlett Packard, attended college and received his real estate license and worked as a Realtor in California.

Ed married Marilyn Hays in Reno, Nev., in September 1984 and the couple lived in California, moving to North Idaho in 1990.

Ed enjoyed woodworking, water skiing, hiking and all outdoor activities.

He was a master at woodworking and built the log home they lived in near Sandpoint, Idaho.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Furtado of Sandpoint, his children, Heather Harding of Wrightsville, Penn., Justin Furtado of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Jaime E. Reichart of Moyie Springs, Idaho; and a sister, Nancy McHone of Moyie Springs.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-son.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bonner Community Hospice.
