Jack H. Brooks, 69, passed away, at his home, on Friday, Sept. 1, 2006.

Friends may call at Coffelt Funeral Service on Tuesday, Sept 5, from noon until 6 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept 6, in Coffelt's Funeral Chapel. Pastor Jeff Tritt will officiate with interment following in Pack River Cemetery. A potluck reception will follow at the family home after the graveside services at Pack River Cemetery.

Jack was born on Oct. 18, 1936, in Lockport, Ill. He later moved to California, graduating in 1954, from the William S. Hart High School in Newhall, Calif. He served with the US Air Force from 1954 until 1974, retiring as a master sergeant. He was assigned to U.S. Air Force bases in the United States and the Pacific Theatre.

In 1974 he moved to Sandpoint, going to work for the city of Sandpoint, Public Works Department, retiring in 1997.

On July 26, 1986, he married Gloria Johnson, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting family history, family heirlooms, and clocks. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, American Legion Post 15, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Brooks of Sandpoint; three children, Jill (and Jerry) Blackman of Newhall, Calif., Jack (and Debbie) Brooks Jr. of Long Beach, Calif., and Denise (and Jeffrey) Tritt of Canyon Country, Calif.; four stepchildren, Debbie Johnson of Olympia, Wash., Donna Roundy of Sandpoint, Dianne (and Ted) Brauer of Sandpoint, and Doug (and Karen) Johnson of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; 15 grandchildren, Cindy, Bret, Jessica, Alyssa, Danielle, Robbie, Michaela, Zak, Lindsay, Cody, Riley, Madisyn, Jaelen, Kessler and Jenacey; a great-grandson, Troy; his sister, JoAnn Zapata of Cypress, Calif.; and special extended family, Rick and Rhonda Larson of Sandpoint.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dolores; a grandson, Eric; and his first wife, Floy Brooks.

Memorials may be made to Heather's House, Sandpoint, ID, in memory of Jack Brooks.
