Sandpoint's generosity led to Kinderhaven 'miracle'
Once again, I sit here and marvel at the generosity of this community. I am the executive director for Kinderhaven, a group foster home and emergency shelter for kids in crisis. I feel privileged to work for this awesome non-profit group with such an important mission, but I feel blessed to live in a place where people so generously and enthusiastically open their hearts and pocket books to help children in crisis.
On July 13, I witnessed a miracle at Kinderhaven. We were the recipient of an Extreme Makeover sponsored by Sullivan Homes Sandpoint and KXLY Broadcasting. So many people and businesses stepped up to make the outside of Kinderhaven shine! They painted, paved, planted, built, and added a playground that was beyond my wildest dreams.
Words cannot describe the feeling in my heart when I see the abused and neglected children from our community happily laughing and playing in our beautiful backyard.
To all those who participated in any way, Kinderhaven Board of Directors, staff and children would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. What you have done will benefit not only the children who are here today, but all future children who pass through our doors.
