John Michael Hunt, 46
John Michael Hunt, 46, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Private family graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at the Clark Fork Cemetery. A potluck memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. at the VFW Hall in Sandpoint.
John was born Jan. 11, 1960, in Sandpoint, to Stanford and Colleen (Pierce) Hunt. John was the sixth child of 11 children.
He spent most of his life in North Idaho where he attended local schools, from Clark Fork to Sandpoint.
A cowboy born 100 years too late, he enjoyed anything western and outdoors, hunting, fishing and hanging out with his special "Road Dog" Alex.
John worked in the construction industry. His greatest love was building homes; when asked what activity he missed the most, he said, "driving nails."
He wanted to be able to go back to work and hang with his adopted nephews. "Uncle John" missed them all.
With a special "thank you" to Jerry Burns, who stood by John through all of his battles, you were more a brother than a boss.
John is survived by his son, Robert (Aleshya) of Hayden, Idaho; his daughters, Tara of Sandpoint, Jennifer of Sandpoint and Heather of Oregon; his brothers, Dave (Millie) of Sandpoint, Jim of Seattle, Wash., and Joe (Barb) of Ponderay, Idaho; his sisters, Holly (Roy) Hawkins of Wells, Nev., Molly (Jim) Forsmann of Sagle, Idaho, Carrie Peters of Sandpoint, Jenny (John) Leen of Pack River, Idaho, Betsy Bartlett of Ponderay and Amy Dexter of Sandpoint; and nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Steve.
Memorials may be made in his name to Heather's House or the Bonner General Hospital's Healing Garden.
