Clark Fork loses heartbreaker

| September 15, 2006 9:00 PM

CLARK FORK — Clark Fork lost a heartbreaker to visiting Wallace Friday night, letting a 12 point lead slip away in the fourth quarter after controlling most of the game.

Ryan Miller had another monster game for the Cats (2-2) in a losing effort, gaining 284 yards on 34 carries with three touchdowns.

Clark Fork had a 12 point lead late in the game, before Wallace scored three unanswered touchdowns to steal a road win in the non-league battle. The game's momentum turned when Mike Martin lost the ball near the goal line and the Miners recovered a fumble in the end zone to tie the game with a minute left.

Wallace was able to get the ball back, and score the winning touchdown on a two yard carry with a mere two seconds left on the clock.

"It was a good game; kids on both teams fought hard; we kind of slipped up at the end and came up a little short," said a disappointed Cats' coach Brian Arthun, whose son scored two touchdowns for Wallace. "It was hard with him scoring the first two TD's. He said he was pumped for the game. After the game, I gave him a hug and told him I was proud of him."

Clark Fork has their bye week next week.
