Joyce Lorraine Giakovmis

| September 18, 2006 9:00 PM

Joyce Giakovmis died quietly in her sleep on Sept. 3, 2006, after spending the day with her daughter, Nancy, and son-in-law, Henry Dardenne, and best friends Elaine Brown and Barbara Rooney.

Joyce was born in Spokane on June 13, 1933, to Les and Nellie Fleenor.

She graduated from West Valley High School and was a bookkeeper her entire career, retiring from Erickson's Ocularists in 1994.

She spent the last years of her life in Sandpoint, Idaho, where she enjoyed and cherished both her friends and her life near the lake.

Joyce was truly the "life of the party."

Her daughter, Janice Mitchell, preceded Joyce in death on Dec. 7, 2000.

Her daughter, Nancy Dardenne of Seattle, Wash., survives her as well as her sister, Barbara Fandry, of Post Falls.

A celebration of Joyce's life will be held next spring at one of her favorite places on the lake she loved so much.
