Gladys V. Olson, 94, passed away in Libby, Mont., on Monday, Sept. 25, 2006.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, in the Sandpoint First Lutheran Church. Pastor Dave Olson will officiate with interment following in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Friends may call at Coffelt Funeral Service on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, from noon until 6:00 p.m.

Gladys was born in Bimidji, Minn., on Nov. 20, 1911, the daughter of Elmer and Florence Chamberlain. The family lived in Glentana, Mont., and Bonners Ferry, Idaho, moving to Sandpoint, Idaho, in 1927.

She graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1930 and married Vernoy "Punk" Olson on Nov. 4, 1933, in Newport, Wash.

She continued to make her home in Sandpoint, later living in the Alpine Vista Apartments and moving to Libby, Mont., in August 2004.

She was an member of First Lutheran Church, in Sandpoint, and served as the secretary to the church council. She loved sewing, quilting, crocheting, and cooking for her family. As a member of the Quilting Guild, she had one of her "blocks" featured in a national quilting magazine. She was also active in TOPS and in 1990 was named the queen for the state of Idaho.

Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church, 526 S. Olive, Sandpoint, Idaho 83864.

She is survived by two daughters, Virginia (Mrs. Roy) Frisk of Pocatello, Idaho, and Mary (Mrs. Bill) Fansler of Libby, Mont.; 10 grandchildren, Karen Frisk Strawn, Allan Frisk, Kimberli Fansler O'Connor, Danielle Fansler, Christina Fansler, Korinne Fansler Peterson, Vicki Olson Smith, Michael Olson, Roberta Olson and Curtis Olson; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Marge Chamberlain of Sandpoint, and Betty Olson of Sandpoint, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Vernoy "Punk" Olson; a son, Roger; a brother, Gene Chamberlain; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
