Lois Ernestine (Alexander) Schneider, 92

Lois Ernestine (Alexander) Schneider, 92, passed away in Careywood, Idaho, on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006.

Memorial services will be held at 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at St. Agnes Episcopal Church, Sixth and Oak, in Sandpoint, Idaho. The Rev. JP Carver is officiating.

She was born on Jan. 4, 1914, in Webb City, Mo., the daughter of Ernest and Gladys (Burton) Alexander.

Her family moved to Chicago, Ill., where Lois attended Austin High School, graduating in 1932.

Lois moved to the Los Angeles, Calif., area, where she met and then married Ottow Schneider on Aug. 25, 1945, in Tacoma, Wash.

After the war, Lois and Ottow moved to Ridgecrest, Calif., where they resided until 1972.

Lois attended St. Michael's Episcopal Church. She was also active in Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary for more than 50 years, serving at various times as an officer in the local organization (Llyod E. Frost Ship 4084) and the District 10 and Department of California.

During her time in Ridgecrest, Calif., Lois also worked 10 years at Ridgecrest Hospital, running central supply.

Lois and Ottow retired in 1972, bought property in Careywood, Idaho, moved there and built their dream home, where they lived until their deaths.

While in Careywood, Lois attended St. Agnes Episcopal Church in Sandpoint, participating in many of the church activities.

Lois is survived by her sons Tony (Janet) Schneider and Eric (Ann) Schneider of Careywood; grandchildren Gregory (Rachel) in Vermont, Troy (Darla) of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Kerry in Washington; and great-grandchildren, Mike and Jessica of Coeur d'Alene.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Ottow, on July 26, 1995; her mother, Gladys Alexander; and four brothers, James, Robert, Keith and Howard.
