We're Number One!

| September 30, 2006 9:00 PM

Congratulations, Idaho, at being the state with the most expensive gasoline in the U.S! Over 40 cents a gallon more than the national average. And Sandpoint certainly must rank up there as the most expensive in the state. How about if the folks that have been gouging the tourists (and the rest of us) all summer with gas prices that were on average 20 cents a gallon more than Coeur d'Alene, stop gouging your neighbors now that summer is over?

As we approach mid-term elections, isn't it fascinating to watch the petroleum monopoly with friends in high places, who have been recording 20 billion dollar per quarter profits, magically "find more reserves than anticipated" to manipulate the prices down and help re-elect the friends in high places? Our outrage will fizzle to complacency in November and then the next created "shortage" will occur so we can all be outraged again by the obscene profits during a non election year. Boy are we a bunch of lemmings.
