Extremists can't be allowed to dictate American policy

| April 2, 2007 9:00 PM

Should "we the people" allow the extreme left wing of the Democrat and Republican parties to accomplish Vietnamizing Iraq as they are most certainly trying their very best to do? What kind of an outcome for the security of America and our allies in the region should we expect if they are successful?

I had just retired from the Navy after 20 years when our helicopters were bringing the last passengers off the embassy roof in Saigon. It was not a pretty sight. Millions of Cambodians and South Vietnamese were slaughtered by the Communist governments; survivors were interned in re-education camps for many years. The same radical left wing of our government and country Fonda, Kerry and Kennedy to mention but a few defunded that war just as they are threatening to do in Iraq.

Should we allow this to happen then we have become a country not worthy of the visions and sacrifices of our founders and of all those that have put on their countries uniform and offered their lives to defend our freedom, liberty and the American way of life for over 200 years. We have allowed the ACLU and other left-wing Communist sympathizers to remove our God from everyday life. Should we succeed in stabilizing the Middle East I think much credit should go to conservative talk radio Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and others perhaps a better outcome would have been possible in Vietnam had they been on the air during that conflict.
