Clemons is on the right track as Bonner County's assessor
Bonner County Assessor Jerry Clemons is on the right track.
While it would be easy here to list the many deficiencies he walked into when he took office in January, let's spend some time looking forward. Like he is.
After being barred from talking with his future employees after the election, he wasted no time once he settled into his new desk.
Clemons values customer service and he is insisting the folks in his office treat the public well.
Clemons spoke at Wednesday's Sandpoint Rotary meeting and in short order convinced those in attendance that the assessor's office is definitely under new management.
Several former employees have left because of Clemons. That's probably not all bad.
Clemons was disappointed the state legislators didn't address full disclosure in real estate transaction last session and was very unhappy there was no addition to the grocery credit or a tax break on groceries.
Clemons warned there needs to be some work to bring some areas of the county up to proper valuation.
It was refreshing to hear Clemons' plans and see his energy.
Bonner County voters should be proud of Clemons' efforts. Our assessment of the assessor is that he is doing all the right things.
