Benjamin Thayer Betts, 23

Benjamin Thayer Betts passed away March 30, 2007, near Bonners Ferry, Idaho. He was 23.

Ben was born Nov. 4, 1983, in Lewiston, Idaho, to Charles L. Betts Sr. and Debrah R. (Troutt) Betts.

Ben joined the Job Corps in Curlew, Wash., to study for a career in masonry. During his training period in the Job Corps he also enrolled in the forestry program and fought several forest fires in the Northwest during the summer months. Ben had many friends in the Job Corps and often went on weekend snowboarding trips with them during the winter months.

When in the Job Corps, Ben also helped direct athletic programs in snowboarding and skateboarding.

In 2005, Ben graduated from Job Corps and moved to Naples, Idaho, and took a job in Sandpoint, Idaho, as mason for Ponderay Stone, where he worked until just before his passing.

He will be greatly missed by everyone who ever knew him and loved him.

A memorial service will be held at New Bridges Community Church, 2101 8th St., Lewiston, Idaho, on Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Brad Bramlet officiating.
