This situation smells like more than just asphalt
The last minute cancellation and continuance to August by Interstate Concrete and Asphalt is legal, say out planner and commissioners. Despite the frustration of those who took time from their day, and those who took off work to support opposing this industrial rezone (only to be told of the cancellation at meeting time) you have helped protect our aquifer, environment, community and quality of life to mention a few.
This showing of support surely sent a message, and maybe it was just a strategy by Interstate to wear us out. Being told the "applicant" had called at five minutes before 5 p.m. the day before to cancel, citing no reason, and then told them they don't have to by law.
Well, the law needs to be changed; this meeting was postponed from last year when two different commissioners were in office.
The rezoning had already been recommended for denial at time, by planning commissioners. Now the process starts all over again.
At the least they should have informed us Wednesday morning so we could prevent lost time from work by getting the word out before 1:30 p.m. Oh, I guess they forgot to tell their project manager and Mr. Linscott, who were also there for the meeting.
