Harold A. John, 93, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 in Spokane, Wash.

Friends may call, to pay their respects at Coffelt's Funeral Chapel on Saturday, April 21, from 1 to 1:30 p.m.

The Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2007, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 621 Oak St., in Sandpoint, Idaho. Father Carlos Perez will officiate.

Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Harold was born Nov. 26, 1913, in New Salem, N.D., to William and Frieda John. He spent his childhood in New Salem, and was a long time resident of North Idaho (Gold Creek, Sandpoint, Bonners Ferry) and Spokane.

He married Kathryn Miller on June 15, 1939, and they had five children and were married for more than 68 years. They spent their early-married life in Spokane, Gold Creek and Sandpoint area.

They owned a farm on Pine Street in Sandpoint at one time milking 20 cows twice a day, and then owned and ran the South Hill Lockers in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Harold enjoyed fishing, huckleberry picking, gardening and woodworking. He also enjoyed writing poems, playing the accordion and dancing to polkas and schottisches up until he passed away. He loved playing Santa Claus, going to church and spending time with his family at Sandpoint City Beach.

Harold was the third child of 11 brothers and sisters and is survived by one brother, Richard; two sisters, Esther and Margareth; his children, Arlene and (Russell) Johnson of Pocatello, Idaho, Roger and (Janice) John of Bonners Ferry, Mary Ann and (Ron) Regehr of Peoria, Ill., Raland and (Cindi) John of Spokane, Sonny and (Patty) John of Spokane; 12 grandchildren, Lori, Sylvia, Cindy and Jason Johnson, Patrick, Ryan and Robin John, Gena and Darren Regehr, Amanada and Kati Beth John;, as well as seven great-grand children and a great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn, who passed away Jan. 20, 2007; seven brothers and one sister; and a grandson, Branden Regehr.
