Pastor is duty bound to obey call to serve on jury
Recently I read an article in the Daily Bee regarding a "Baptist pastor," who repeatedly refused to acknowledge a summons from the jury commissioner to appear for duty as a juror in Bonner County.
As a retired police officer, past juror, witness and a "born again" Christian, I feel duty bound to make comment.
One, God requires we "obey" the law.
Two, it's a privilege, though sometimes inconvenient, to serve.
Three, how fortunate this individual is unwilling to follow Biblical mandates to not violate man's and God's laws.
Four, he is willingly sinning, and he should repent, humble himself before God, man and the court, and ask forgiveness.
Judge Verby has only one choice to make … to follow man's law and to let this individual know in no certain terms that no one is above the law. I'm sure he will.
