Imus needs to go

| April 28, 2007 9:00 PM

The days of police dogs threatening with bared teeth and fire hoses being trained on men and women marching for representation and equality has faded into the past.

The comment by Don Imus referring to the Rutgers women basketball team as, "Knapy haired 'hos" proves bigotry and prejudice is still alive in America.

Mr. Imus stole from these beautiful young student athletes and their families a well earned and deserving recognition of a fantastic achievement. Mr. Imus has abused his use of our airwaves. He has demonstrated that words can hurt.

It is time to award Mr. Imus and his ilk a moment to remember the rest of their lives. It is time to rid the airwaves of Mr. Imus and his offensive demeanor, sarcasm, arrogance and bigotry. We must show the world that open bigotry and racism will not be tolerated on the American people's airwaves.

Imus must go. This is not Mr. Imus' first offense. He has displayed offensive behavior on numerous occasions. He must suffer the loss of what he relishes above all else. He must lose his cherished status as a talk show host and never should his voice be heard on the people's airwaves again.
