SISNA mt. bike series has season finale

| August 2, 2007 9:00 PM

ATHOL — The final night of the SISNA Mountain Bike Series saw a series-record attendance of 94 riders hitting the dirt route at Farragut State Park in Athol.

Over the entire series, 159 riders from all over the Sandpoint, Coeur d'Alene and Spokane regions attended the fun-based and timed event. It's presented by Ken Barrett of All About Adventures, an outfitting company based out of Sandpoint.

All told the series riders did 345 laps, covering 3,146 miles, with no significant injury — but some mayhem did occur.

Mike Gaertner of Coeur d'Alene and Brandon Gray of Sandpoint were the fast male and female on Wednesday's final, posting lap times of 30.34 and 36.35 respectively.

Joe Johnson of Spokane edged out Doug Krumpelman of Hayden for the overall series title, and Emma Millar kept in front of Erin Greenly for the women's title, both riders hailing from Sandpoint.

Posted times are available on "ASISNA.COM" and action photos can be seen on "pointphotography.com."

Barrett wishes great thanks to all the riders for their awesome attitudes and camaraderie and he's especially thankful for his long-term title sponsor, the ISP ASISNA out of Spokane. Additional thanks to Farragut State Park/Keith Jones AR, prize sponsors Sandpoint Sports, Mountain View Cyclery, Eichardts Pub & Grill, Laughing Dog Brewing, Mt. Baldy Dental Center/Todd M. House DMD, Mt. Baldy Ski resort (BC, Canada), Schweitzer Mountain Resort, Pucci's Pub and media sponsors The Bonner County Daily Bee, Point Photography (Cory Murdock), 95.3 KPND/Blue Sky Broadcasting and Mountain Sky Unlimited.

Next year's event is tentatively scheduled to start on July 9, 2008.
