Bush owes everyone an apology for war

| August 8, 2007 9:00 PM

It should be evident to everyone by now that our president, for all his daily prayers for divine guidance, has deluded himself into thinking he's our leader and protector, when, in fact, he's a devious, dissembling little boy bully who fears his personal house of cards — and perhaps even his faith — would come tumbling down if ever he were to admit that he's been wrong: that he's led us not into some grand crusade for spreading democracy around the world but into a bloody shambles.

It's time to bring all the troops home and let the Iraqis sort things out themselves. The bloodshed could not be much worse. We are no longer seen as liberators. We are seen as occupiers. To continue to stay there belittles them.

It's time to insist, before he and his band of immoral cronies all leave office, that he be made to apologize to us. This will do more to restore our country's dignity than any imagined victory on this trumped up battlefield.

If this means impeachment (for one or more of his "crimes and misdemeanors") or, at the very least, censure, then let's get on with it. Our country, our troops and the Iraqis have suffered too long.

Call your congressman.
