'Free' park has plenty of strings attached
In response to Mayor Ray Miller's statement concerning the "wonderful free gift" that ITD has offered the citizens of Sandpoint and that his mother always told him not to question free gifts.
Well, my mother taught me a few things as well.
1. If something seem too good to be true it generally has strings attached. 2. Consider the source.
Considering that ITD is the source, I have no doubt that there are many "strings" and "unknowns" attached to this seemingly free gift.
The members of City Council who voted against signing the park agreement were wise to do so and deserve our thanks. NICAN has always supported the concept of the Sand Creek peninsula being a recreational area for the community but without the presence of a freeway right next to it.
