An apology to the Sandpoint council
My letter to the editor, published Aug. 23, 2007, in the Bonner County Daily Bee, should never have been published. I left a voice mail on Friday, Aug. 17, for Caroline Lobsinger to not publish it. After I got on my high horse about the City Council postponing action on the byway proposal and wrote the published letter, I found out the Daily Bee omitted an important fact that the complicated proposal had not been given to the City Council prior to the meeting for their consideration. Also, the park had been called "a gateway," which is ambiguous. The Sandpoint City Council was performing their duties as expected in an elected body to do the citizens' business. Good for the council.
Do not get me wrong, I am still 100 percent in favor of the byway and ITD. The current plan is just fine. Now if we can get Liz Sedler and "Mr. Tunnel" to start work on the east-west connections instead of displaying their "cussedness" (my late mom's favorite term) about the bypass, we might be able to get that fixed in the next 60 years.
