LAKELAND — Bailey Hewitt had two goals and an assist, and the Bulldog girls broke open a scoreless game in the second half to beat Lakeland 3-1 Tuesday night in Inland Empire League action.
Hewitt finished a nice through ball by Brittany Oakley, then headed in a corner kick from Brittany Clawson for the first two goals. Oakley would score the third goal to give Sandpoint (2-0, 2-0) a cushion.
"Lakeland was playing real defensive, keeping everyone back," said Sandpoint head coach Adam Tajan. "We played good possession soccer; the best we've played in a long time."
Final stats were unavailable at press time. The boys game was still in progress at deadline.
