SHS soccer continues strong start

RATHDRUM — The Sandpoint scored four goals in a 30-minute stretch in the first half and cruised to an IEL victory over Lakeland Tuesday night. They've won their last two IEL games by a combined score of 15-0.

The Bulldogs (2-1, 2-0 IEL) outshot the Hawks 35-3, and Lakeland (0-3, 0-3) goalkeeper Kirk Pentland made 10 saves. Tyler Barley had two goals, and Shawn Carlsen posted his second consecutive shutout, aided by a stingy Sandpoint back four.

Sandpoint heads to Moscow today as the top two 4A teams in the IEL will wage battle for the first time.

? Hewitt continues scoring spree as Bulldogs top Hawks

LAKELAND — Bailey Hewitt continued her early season scoring binge, scoring two goals to go with an assist as Sandpoint beat Lakeland 3-1 Tuesday. Hewitt now has six goals in the first two games.

Sandpoint (2-0, 2-0) hosts Moscow today at 4:30 p.m.

? Jordan notches seven goal game in JV action

Emily Jordan scored seven goals in the Sandpoint JV girls 10-0 win over Lewiston last week. She now has a gaudy 10 goals in the first two games after notching a hat trick in the Bulldogs' 11-0 win over Lakeland Tuesday.

"Her intensity up front," said coach Shantelle Gillis of the key to her scoring outburst. "Nothing was going to stop her."

McKinzi Obaitek added a hat trick against Lakeland, giving her five goals in two games, and giving Sandpoint a bright future in girls soccer.
