UI announces Hall of Fame inducteees
Kramer, Nieman and Alsager all have Sandpoint ties
MOSCOW — They've caught, they've run, they've thrown. They've skied, boxed and swam.
They did it with distinction.
They are the charter members of the newly founded Vandal Athletics Hall of Fame — a collection of student-athletes, coaches and administrators that spans more than 100 years of University of Idaho history.
They include the late Elmer Jordan, former Coeur d'Alene High boys basketball coach; John Friesz, former Coeur d'Alene and Idaho star quarterback; Jerry Kramer, former Sandpoint High, Idaho and Green Bay Packers football great; former Vandal football player Ryan Phillips, a Hayden resident; Alli Nieman, former Vandal basketball star from Sandpoint High and former Vandal volleyball player Karen Thompson Alsager, currently the head coach at Sandpoint High School.
The induction ceremony and dinner are Sept. 7 at the International Ballroom at the University of Idaho Student Union Building. The social begins at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner at 6:30 p.m. Dinner is $150 for an individual; $250 for a couple.
