SANDPOINT — Seniors Mike Martin and Drew Wilkinson combined for 42 points to pace the Clark Fork varsity to a 69-39 win over Sandpoint's JV in non-league boys basketball action Thursday night at Les Rogers Court.

Wilkinson was 9-16 from the floor and added three steals to go with his game-high 23 points, and Thomas McMahon chipped in with 10 points and 10 rebounds to pace Clark Fork, which led throughout.

Most of the senior-laden Cats played against Sandpoint's JV last year and won by three points. Head coach Brian Powell chalks up the difference this year to maturity, especially from Wilkinson, who has improved his shot selection since last season.

"He's got a burst and a quick first step," said Powell. "He gets to the hoop quick, but is in more control this year."

Sophomore guard Brandon Lawrence led the Bulldogs JV with 12 points, including back to back three-pointers in the second half.

The Wampus Cats are ranked No. 4 in the 1A state rankings, and having already beaten 3A Priest River, will travel to 3A Timberlake on Tuesday to take on their third straight opponent from a larger league.
