PUBLIC HEARING

ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE FEDERAL CARL D. PERKINS FIVE-YEAR STATE PLAN

A PUBLIC HEARING will be held by order of the Idaho State Board for Professional-Technical Education to secure public input for the federal Carl D. Perkins Five-Year State Plan.

The public hearing will be conducted via the statewide distance learning network on January 8, 2008, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. MST (3:00-5:00 p.m. PST) at the following sites:

This hearing is called in response to provisions of P.L. 109-270, Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006, which states:

”(3) HEARING PROCESS.—The eligible agency shall conduct public hearings in the State, after appropriate and sufficient notice, for the purpose of affording all segments of the public and interested organizations and groups (including charter school authorizers and organizers consistent with State law, employers, labor organizations, parents, students, and community organizations), an opportunity to present their views and make recommendations regarding the State plan. A summary of such recommendations and the eligible agency's response to such recommendations shall be included in the State plan.

The draft State plan will be available at public libraries, public college and university campus libraries, and on the Idaho Professional-Technical Education website located at www.pte.idaho.gov on December 31, 2007.

Persons having an interest in expressing their views in the development of the State plan are cordially invited to attend and to present oral or written comments at that time. Comments and questions may also be e-mailed to Ann Stephens (astephen@pte.idaho.gov) through January 8, 2008. Questions and answers will be posted on the web page as they are received and answered.
