Western route would do more harm than good

| December 17, 2007 8:00 PM

Wow, Mr. Lewis, I didn't think there were many out there still peddling that tired old refrain about a western route. Several things: It would be over a $1 billion at today's dollars. Then there are the five, count them, five good size wetlands in the way that the big environmental boys would be most interested in protecting.

As for blighting the waterfront? You mean like those giant chicken coops called the Seasons? Picture 15 more just like them with a guard shack to keep us commoners away.

It'll be most interesting if NICAN does sue. If they stop after losing at the first level of the court system, then it's likely the average dollar conscience businesses are in charge, but if they continue up the court ladder, it would be a safe bet that the real forces behind NICAN have nothing to do with grass roots, except those paved or built over, the developement/realty complex.

And you know how environmentally conscience they are. Why just look at the bang up job one of them did out a Bayview this past year.

They likely have a hand in this new comprehensive zoning plan to stick commercial construction in our residential neighborhoods.
