Wilma Ruth Dunkel, 88

Wilma Ruth Dunkel, 88, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, in the Pack River Cemetery.

Wilma was born in College Place, Wash., on Feb. 28, 1919, the daughter of Thomas and Neva Kinman. She graduated from high school in 1937 and then graduated from college in College Place, Wash. She moved to Portland, Ore., and began working for Civil Service, later transferring to San Francisco.

On July 26, 1947 she married Lloyd Dunkel in Oakland, Calif. She lived in San Diego and Chula Vista, Calif., and Bethesda, Md., then moving to Trinidad, Colo., and running a college book store for two years. In 1962 she moved to Chico, Calif., where she worked for an accounting office.

She moved to the Sandpoint area in 1975 and continued working, in Spokane, for the Social Security Administration. She retired in 1978 living on the family farm in Sandpoint and enjoying her knitting.

She is survived by her husband, of 60 years, Lloyd Dunkel of Sandpoint; two sons, Mark (and Arlana) Dunkel and Roger Dunkel, both of Sandpoint; and nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Her sister Arlene Devine of College Place, Wash.

Her parents and a brother Eugene preceded her in death.
