Account established to help Gene Brown

| December 26, 2007 8:00 PM

As so often happens this time of year, the joy of Christmas and the anticipation of the new year is marred by tragedy and loss.

Such loss occurred to the Brown family when on the morning of Thursday, Dec. 13, a fire burned Gene and Carla's Samuels home to the ground.

On Friday, Dec. 21, Carla Brown suffered a massive seizure and was rushed to Bonner General Hospital. She died the following afternoon at 5:30 p.m.

It's one thing to lose everything to a fire. But at a time when a husband and wife must rely on each other for courage and strength, the loss of a spouse is doubly cruel. Carla was a wonderful human being. Her kindness and willingness to help those in need will be missed.

An account in Gene's name has been set up at the Sandpoint branch of Panhandle State Bank.
